    Getting Here

  • Cottage for rent on Sturgeon Island on Rideau River in Newboro, Ontario Sturgeon Island (Lottie’s Isle) is a beautiful ½ acre private island located within an easy paddle to the mainland, and close to Newboro Locks on the Rideau system. It is long and narrow, giving a "public and private side" to your vacation spot.

The North side of the island facing the channel has good swimming and a great view of the channel. The South side is private, and it is there that you can see deer come to drink on the shore of the island just behind Lottie’s.

On the island is nestled a two storey, fully restored historic cottage with three bedrooms, a three piece bath, fully equipped kitchen with built in oven and dishwasher, a galley laundry room with washer and dryer. The cottage has a second floor sleeping porch, as well as a main floor screened, 35’ veranda.

Centrally located on the island is a screened 17’ by 17’ gazebo. There you can watch the sunrise or sunset as you please. There are extra cots available, should you choose to use it as a sleeping area in fine weather.

You will need to bring your own boat or canoe, or owner can provide boat rental information. No boats are rented as part of the rental agreement with the cottage. Other than that, the only thing you need to bring is your own food!

Guests are required to remove their own garbage.

The cottage is available from June 2th to September 27th, 2008.
